Maersk Acquires Terminals in Turkey, Spain, And Latin America

An agreement with Pérez y Cia will see A.P. Moeller-Maersk acquire a majority stake in Spanish container terminal operator Grup Maritim TCB, for an undisclosed purchase price.

Established in 1972 by the Perez-Maura family in Barcelona, Grup Maritim is a privately held company that operates terminals in Spain, Turkey, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia and Brazil. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2015.

Maersk's investment adds 11 terminals in Turkey, Spain and Latin America, bringing APM Terminals' holdings to 74 terminals in 40 countries, across five continents. Combined, the facilities handle approximately 3.5 million TEU per year.
