In June 2015, Australia and China signed an important Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that had been in the pipeline for almost a decade. Since the agreement’s enforcement in December 2015, it is clear that both nations have been nurturing and developing their maritime trade links. In a bid to strengthen trade relations, Australia and China have been implementing a number of investments and initiatives throughout the first half of 2016 in order to encourage more growth and productivity between the two countries.
This version of the Trade Focus Report will look more closely at the developments that have been taking place in 2016 so far, examining how they have enabled Australia and China to become much stronger trading partners.
