Suzue has formed a joint venture with local container shipping company KMA Shipping – called KMA-Suzue Logistics Myanmar Ltd., to build a new container freight station (CFS), which will be located about 15 kilometers from Yangon Port, 20 kilometers from Yangon international airport, and 20 kilometers from Thilawa Port. The Thilawa Port is part of the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Myanmar’s first SEZ, which Myanmar and Japan established jointly and opened for operations in 2015.

The new container freight station will be built in the Dagon Seikkan district of Yangon on a 18,211 square meter site, and will have a total floor space of 1,558 square meters, as well as a container yard and an open storage yard. The facility is expected to open in January 2018.

As Japanese logistics operators position themselves to capitalize on the Myanmar’s liberalizing economy and expansion of trade, many (like Suzue Corp.) are increasing their investments in the country via infrastructure investment.
