On May 1, 2017, APM Terminals Gothenburg opened the new container freight station to speed transport of forestry products and steel. The new container freight station is part of the APM Terminals’ US$28 million container terminal investment plan.

Wood and steel are large, important and price sensitive exports for Sweden. The yearly export volumes of sawn timber is approximately 13 million cubic meters, which corresponds to 280,000 containers per year.
