Myanmar’s transport infrastructure has reached the low end of the Asian benchmark due to our poorly targeted investment for many years. Now it is time to improve our transport infrastructure effectively and systematically with regional and international cooperation. Our government recognises that transport is one of the key sectors for our national economic development and that sustainable growth of our country depends on establishing an efficient and integrated transport system in which ports development is a crucial element. – Myanmar deputy minister for transport and communications
As ASEAN countries prioritise on improving connectivity within and beyond the region smooth transportation could contribute to intra-regional trade and economic growth, reduce regional development gaps, and strengthen relations and integration among ASEAN countries.
